"We all agreed on where to sleep? Perfect!" Mr Quartz took Pearl's hand and led her to their room. "There's a bathroom and jacuzzi adjacent to it, in case you want to take a shower." He called down to the others: "Breakfast is at eight-thirty sharp!"
Slowly but surely the house went to sleep, and Periwinkle Quartz snoozed with visions of Pearl dancing in his head. He giggled in his sleep. Outside it began to rain softly.

I disliked all of the drinks that I had brought out, but drank a lot of the stuff anyways, but this wouldn't suffice. I ran out into the rain, pulled a box out of the back of my truck. I wheeled it in to the conservatory, and dropped it next to Nick, startling him. I cracked open the lid. Inside was a cache of Mountain Dew and assorted expensive whisky.
"I got kiddie beer, and grown up beer, if you want any."

"Dude, if it isn't Hetap, I'm not interested..." I lamented.

"AALALLLLLLLLRRRRIIRIIIIIIIIIIGIGIGIIIGGGHGGGHGHHGHHHHHHHHTTTHTHTTHTTTTT, moooore for me!"
I cracked open one of each, stacked them cap to cap, and shook. I drank it. Tasted like shit, guess they weren't supposed be mixed but I downed the whole thing and passed out over the box.

"...Enjoy the hangover." I said, making myself comfortable in one of the sleeping bags. I dozed off for...I dunno, a few hours?, until something round hit my face.
"OW!" I yelled. Not the most pain I've ever been in, but getting kicked in the face while your sleeping is about as uncomfortable as it sounds. I rolled over to find that Steven tripped over my head. I asked the obvious question. "Steven, what are you doing up?"
"I couldn't sleep..." Steven confessed.
"You're worried about Beach City, aren't you?" I said as I sat up and rubbed the drowsiness out of my eyes.
"Yeah..." Steven started getting teary-eyed, "My dad, Peedee, Connie...anything could be happening to them now."
"Why don't you tell me about them," I started, "And I'll tell you about my friends." Steven must've forgot that I've seen most of his adventures on TV. Can't blame him, I almost forgot that he was a cartoon character. It was more a recap of what I already knew.
"...And then all this happened," Steven concluded, "We were the ones that are supposed to protect Beach City, but now..."
"Steven, it's not all about being a good fighter or being a powerful Gem," I started, "That helps, but it's not what saved the day. You staying strong, and doing what you do. That's what saved Beach City, and the people that live in it. Now get to sleep, we've only got a few hours left until morning..." I laid back down and covered up.

Periwinkle Quartz awoke to the sounds of Schubert's Fifth Symphony playing over his radio. He smiled, then opened his eyes. He waved his hands to the soft, Mozartian melody of the First Movement.
The room was filled with sunlight from the window; some stray shafts of morning landed on the Gem of the sleeping woman on the air mattress some feet from his bed.
He instantly recalled the events of the past night, and a girlish excitement returned to him. Here she was--the girl of his dreams, the one woman who interested him with her quick wit and her intellectual nature and her motherly caring--Pearl. He reached down and brushed a disordered strand of hair away from her face, but nothing more. He would let her sleep.
He turned off the radio.
He slipped a robe over his t-shirt and pyjama pants and snuck down to the kitchen, to prepare breakfast.
Twenty minutes later, a plate of sausages, a plate of hearty bacon, and some pancakes in rich maple syrup sat on the dining room table. "Wake up, ladies and gents! Breakfast is ready!" yelled Periwinkle Quartz. The clock chimed eight-thirty as the guests groggily made their way down to where breakfast awaited them.

"AAAH!" I yelled, jumping out of the sleeping bag. "Remind me NEVER to sleep over here again," I groaned, trying in vain to wipe the sleep from my eyes. I walked to the kitchen to see...a goddamn breakfast feast. This was definitely worth the rude awakening. I grabbed a plate, silverware, and started gorging.

"I see you're enjoying the little breakfast I made," said Periwinkle Quartz. "I prefer strawberry crepes myself, but I didn't have any of that." He helped himself to a big plate of everything, sat down, and began to eat. "So how are you, Nick? I trust you slept well?" he asked.

"Ehh," I shrugged, I'm not sure Steven would approve of me sharing our conversation. I put down the silverware and focused on Periwinkle.
"Listen, we need to get on the move. Like, RIGHT NOW," I tried to be as serious as possible, "If this means the anthrophobic Crystal Gems are asking for our help, then we'd better be ready to take down the devil because I get the feeling that we're opening the gates of hell."

I pulled up into the driveway, Burger King in hand. I shoved fries into my mouth and threw greasy foods on to the table.
Dig in I ate half of them on the way here
